Hi Betty,

Thank you so much for your feedback, this is so important to us and all the other travelers out there. We took a closer look and indeed, New Generation dropped in quality recently. We contacted the hostel to see what is going on, because this is actually a fantastic place to stay. In the meantime, we have replaced it as our top recommendation with another hostel we love. I stayed at the new generation hostel due to recommendations from hostel geeks. It is the worse place ever guys, there is a surcharge to check in in person, a surcharge to check in after 11pm and you have to leave your keys at reception and collect it when you come back. These are super dodgy and I’ve never experienced it in any of the hostels I’ve ever stayed at.

Furthermore, the bathroom lock was Broken when I Bought this up at reception I asked for it to either be fixed or moved to another room With a working lock, the guy at reception dismissed this concern as “no one will come on when I use it”. Not happy. I’m sharing a room with six other people and it’s not an untameable expectation to have privacy in the bathroom! Tis place really needs to be taken off the list.

Finally a useful guide 😀 So much non-sense for hostels, it’s unbelievable. I chose Yellow Hostel for Rome now. Should be fun! For Venice I went with your advice and absolutey loved Combo! THANKS =)

Why is it that all hostels are in termini? I read it is not a very good area but at least close to the main train station? Can you let me know please?

I am a female solo traveler from Montreal, Canada. My hostel should be safe, clean and somehow cool if possible. Like these 5 Star Hostels 😀
